Founded in 2015 by Medford locals Nick Bolitho and Max Heinegg, Medford Brewing initially operated as a contract brewer and gradually expanded its beer distribution across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
After years of searching, they purchased a former auto-body shop at 30 Harvard Avenue in West Medford in late 2021 and finally secured zoning approval to operate as a brewpub. The taproom officially opened in December 2022.
Since opening, Medford Brewing has hosted community-focused events—live music, readings, food pop-ups—and contributed significantly to Medford’s local arts and culture scene. In fact, in 2023 it ranked among the top 10 venues by number of events in Medford, with 67 events held in its taproom alone.
In mid-January 2024, the brewery added food options like empanadas and small bites to the menu, complementing its beverage lineup and snack offerings.
Medford Brewing Company is still open and active, it operates as both a brewpub (serving beer brewed onsite) and taproom, with occasional light food service and community events.
