TBD Health

Co-founded in 2020 by former friends Daphne Chen and Stephanie Estey—motivated by personal experiences of stigma in traditional sexual healthcare, they envisioned a more accessible, sex-positive model centered on empathy and user-focused care. Initially launched in six states—Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Massachusetts, Florida, and Connecticut—with at-home STD testing kits coupled with telehealth consults.

In January 2023, TBD completed a $4.4M seed round led by Tusk Venture Partners with participation from several other funds and angel investors.

As of mid‑2023, its services expanded to 47+ states, including full telehealth STD testing, emergency contraception delivery, and the launch of an at-home HIV PrEP subscription (via remote testing and prescription services).

First physical clinic launched in Las Vegas in early 2022, followed by a second hub in Denver in October 2023—both designed as trauma-informed, sex-positive clinical environments offering services like STI testing, HIV treatment, contraception, and even couples testing rooms. CLEAR partnership indexed performers in Las Vegas, offering next-day STI panels for performers through a PASS-approved clinical facility.

Offers a hybrid healthcare model—patients can choose between at-home testing or in-clinic care. Mobile kits include urine, vaginal swab, and finger-prick blood tests (dried blood spot method) validated for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. Clinicians are sex-positive, trauma-aware, and committed to guiding users through follow-up counseling and timelined care—not just delivering results.

Rapid growth in 2023, adding over 3,000 patients and achieving triple-digit growth compared to 2022, across digital and hub-based services. As of late 2023, TBD Health had expanded to 47+ states, with plans for full coverage, including both clinical and telehealth services nationwide.
