Founded in 2019 in San Diego by six entrepreneurs, led by founder and CEO Chris Boyd (a fitness entrepreneur), Drink Monday was launched to provide premium non-alcoholic spirits—specifically Monday Gin, Monday Whiskey, and later Monday Mezcal—for health-conscious adults seeking cocktail experiences without alcohol. The brand emphasized clean-label products: zero calories, zero sugar, vegan, gluten-free, and Big-8 allergen-free. Their debut Gin reportedly passed $1.38M in sales within its first nine months.

In October 2022, Drink Monday raised growth capital via revenue-based financing from Decathlon Capital Partners, helping scale distribution without dilution or loss of equity. Partnerships expanded significantly in 2022–2023, including online retail with Anthropologie, placement in over 1,000 retail stores, and listing with Total Wine and Drizly across multiple U.S. states.

Lifetime sales surpassed $9M by March 2023, with standout performance during Dry January and key holiday sales periods.

On February 1, 2023, industry veteran Ken Young took over as CEO, succeeding Chris Boyd, who pivoted to focus on brand strategy and product innovation. Under Young, Drink Monday expanded its leadership and assembled a board featuring experts in branding, CPG operations, retail strategy, and PR. Plans were also made to pursue a $3M fundraising round (crowdfunding and Series A) to scale further across retail and digital channels.

Monday Gin, Monday Whiskey, and Monday Mezcal are crafted to replicate traditional liquors’ flavor and experience—matured, distilled, and bottled similar to classic spirits but free of alcohol, carbs, sugar, or calories. Drink Monday also produces curated cocktail kits in partnership with specialty brands like Fever-Tree, Hella Cocktail Co., and Strong Water to enhance the home cocktail experience. Products are marketed to alcohol-avoidant moderately active or mindful adults seeking elevated taste experiences with no compromise.

The brand serves 130,000‑plus customers, and is stocked in 800‑1,000 retail outlets nationally including cafés, hospitality spots, and major chains like Total Wine.
